La belle ville de Coleford // The beautiful town of Coleford
Coleford est située au Sud-Ouest de l’Angleterre, à la frontière avec le Pays-de-Galles, dans le comté de Gloucestershire. C’est une ville commerçante et touristique de 8000 âmes, entourée par la Forêt royale de Dean, internationalement connue comme décor du dernier Star Wars.
Coleford is located in the Southwest of England, on the border with Wales, in Gloucestershire County. It is a trading and tourist town of 8,000 souls, surrounded by the Royal Forest of Dean, internationally known as a scene of the last Star Wars movie.

SAINT-HILAIRE-DE-RIEZ AND COLEFORD OFFICIALISED THEIR EXCHANGES
Our British friends made the trip in the heart of summer for the signing of an exchange protocol between Coleford and SHR. This signing took place on 5th August between the Presidents of both associations, Damien Guibert for France and Iain Baird for the United Kingdom, witnessed by Mayors Paul Kay and Laurent Boudelier.
FIRST STAY IN COLEFORD
At the end of December, eleven Hilairois youngsters spent a few days with our friends of Coleford. To the programme, numerous visits and discoveries: Forest of Puzzlewood, Forest of Dean, Glos Cathedral Tour… Also an occasion for testing English specialities: fish and chips, and the famous English breakfast. This journey was also marked by a first meeting with the youngsters of Coleford, whom we arrange to meet next summer in SHR.

Coleford’s youngsters went back. Au revoir !
Yesterday morning the nine Coleford’s youngsters and their three attendants went back to England. It was the second youth exchanges between both towns since young Hilairois had been staying for a few days in Coleford at the end of December. Our young English friends could discover our territory through visiting La Vie salt-marsh, the Museum of Bourrine du Bois Juquaud, the Puy du Fou…They could begin learning surf and enjoying camping since they were accommodated under canvas in the municipal camp site of La Plage de Riez.
Next appointment: in October a delegation from Saint Hilaire, including some teachers, will travel to Coleford, for working on schools exchanges.
In live from Coleford, our friend town
Nicholas (Nick) Penny, Mayor of Coleford, has just handed a present to Saint Hilaire’s Deputy Mayor Sandrine Avrilla, symbolically marking the cooperation between both of our towns. This week, Sandrine Avrilla is going along with a 28-Hilairois delegation, in particular made up of teachers, with the aim of preparing future school exchanges.

The visit is going on for our Saint Hilaire’s delegation with our friends of Coleford. Meeting with teachers, as part of future school exchanges, and visit to Symmonds Yat with a great view over the Wye River.

Yesterday evening, inauguration of new city entry signs expressing our friendship with Coleford Town Council.
On this occasion, about fifty books belonging to the Médiathèque de Saint Hilaire de Riez’ holdings were offered for Coleford’s schools and library.
